GOLF COURSE CONSTRUCTION IN FULL SWING
Muscat Golf Course Project reaches six month stage
Six months on from the initial ground-breaking of the
18-hole Muscat Golf Course Project, and visitors are
now seeing the design take shape, with significant
progress clearly visible on the course layout.
Project Managers, Laing Oman, part of the worldwide
company, Laing O’Rourke, are fully moving ahead with
the project, which continues to aim for completion
before the end of 2006. Operating alongside the UK’s
leading golf course construction company, Southern
Golf, the project leaders are working on the final
shaping of greens and bunkers, using equipment
provided by Arabian Projects.
Mr. Mohammed Suleiman Al Wahaibi, personal
representative to His Highness Sayyid Kais Bin Tarik
Al Said, who is Promoter of the project, said, “We
have all been eagerly awaiting the shaping of the
course and now that this is underway, it allows us to
see our long-awaited vision quickly turning into
reality. The course is being constructed to the
highest international standards by Southern Golf, a
world renowned and highly respected golf course
construction company, and we are delighted with the
progress.”
In addition to the course layout, contractors are
continuing to divert major power lines away from the
golf course. So far, the power lines on wooden poles
have been transferred and the lines on steel towers
will be transferred once final sign-off of the systems
has been made by OETC. The end result will be a site
completely clear of any overhead lines.
The Golf Course is an integral part of the larger
Muscat Golf Course Project (MGCP), which is forging
ahead on all fronts. Earthworks to produce building
platform levels and road profiles are underway with
tenders now issued for the construction of villas,
apartments and irrigation installation.
Villa designs have been finalised and refined in the
past 3 months and finishes on kitchens, bathrooms and
flooring will soon be finalised for buyers to select.
Mike Caines, Director Contracts & Planning for MGCP
said, “The designs have been through numerous reviews
and we have taken into account the feedback received
from our buyers. We will soon be in a position to
offer our buyers the opportunity to select finishes
and fittings for their homes.”
Buyers of properties in the development will soon be
receiving their sales and purchase agreements with an
information pack on the site progress and completion
details.
The Muscat Golf Course Project is a Ministry of
Tourism endorsed site, aiming to attract international
tourism and investment into Oman. Close to Muscat’s Al
Seeb International Airport, the Project is already
attracting a huge amount of interest from the overseas
golfing market. |
